First, the mini I did for one of my daughters:

My other daughter decided she wanted a mermaid, so I sculpied it up today and baked it. Start painting it tomorrow.

And finally, the fully funnctioing speakerhead:

Image
LEDs powered by a 3v battery and turned on and off with a toggle switch behind the head.

Image
Both speakers work fantastic and the sound is pretty darn good for $9.99 speakers (phillips).

Image
the toggle switch and the speaker jack, which can extend from the butt and be retracted so there's not a cord dragging all over the place.

Image
rocking with the ipod touch.

Image
the speaker jack retratced.

Image
these are the guts inside the head.

Image
the evil stare!!!

This was the most rewarding munny I've done thus far. The clock one was pretty fun, but I really liked building this thing with all the soldering and electric work. It was a fun experiment.

Next munny after the mini mermaid I'm working on, I think I'm gonna do a webcam intergrated munny for a friend for his birthday.

Hope you guys like. I had a ton of fun with this one.

Both of these look great. I think that may be one of the better speaker conversions we've seen pulled off. Can't wait to see what you can make with the webcam. Have we seen anyone integrate a digital picture frame into a custom?

thank you. the sculpy took about 2 hours, but the wiring took the longest. i was originally trying to wire the LEDs to the speakers so they would light up when the speakers were on, but there was too much juice running through them, and i didn't have a voltage meter to measure how much was going through and then mess around with resistors. but the wiring took about 5 hours in total with mistakes and everything. the cutting and painting took about 2 hours, and putting everything inside the head, about 15-30 mins.

thanks. but yeah, i just measured and cut two holes in the head. the way the speakers were made, the magent portion and the power connection where smaller than the top speaker part, so as long as they fit inside the hole, the speakers themselves would rest on top of the hole and cover it. i just dabbed some glue under the main speaker area and it doesn't reveal any gaps.
