here it goes....
difficulties(1-10): 1 (the easiest)

material:
a container (i used a starbuck cup for my 3" dunny)
hot water
rit dye (powder or liquid)....haha, i actually had to go to a fabric shop for it..and in line with those old peeple....k-mart or target has them too...but fabric shop has more color

process:
1. pour some rit dye into container..
2. add hot water..
3. mix well.
4. (optional): use a filter to filter out pulps so you don't get any on your vinyl figure..
5. just dump your dunny in there..(for the humbug, i held on to the cane and not let the mouth part touch the dye)...stop when the proper tone is achieved...
6. wash with clean water.

you can always start with lighter color....you can always redye it to other darker color..
can also do rainbow affect by dipping in multiple dye..

the color will not come off....you can use a knife to cut into it and you will see the color is actually penetrated into the vinyl..

and keep in mind...once you go black, you can't go back...

HAVE FUN!!

haha...i used tangerine and neon pink...
i think the mint green #8 should be good on my next 8" hate...to go with the green humbug.....since i can control the tone, i should be able to match that precisely..

Question: Does the dye affect the "painted" areas? i.e. would the dye affect the beard stubble area, or is it safe to just dunk the whole figure into the dye? I thought I saw one image where the decals on the bottom of the feet didn't seem effected.

da light purple area will pick up the dye also.......i tried to maintain the original purple with sharp contrast and didn't soak the area........if you rotate the head to the back, hold on to the cane and submerge into da dye just enough to the rim of the beard..the water should just stop around the beard....steady hand is required to maintain a clean edge...

and for the eyes, belly button, "humbug" on the back, and foot print.....it doesn't matter...even it picks up color...it still maintains a clean sharp contrast...

oh, make sure you rotate the arms once in a while...otherwise you might end up with white arm pit.....

Hehe! I thought of you busily dipping white hates into a giant vat of orange dye!

The vapours have got to you if you think I'm letting my beautiful Kaws near any dye!
No way! ;)

... very cool but now there wont be any need for any colorations in figures if you can just dye them.which means more bootlegs

not busy at all....got it all computerize..
conveyor system to dip suckers in n out..properly calibrated to submerge them at a correct angle and depth(to ensure the mouth doesn't get any dye)
50gal pot with auto temperature control and infrared temp sensor..
optical system to ensure proper color tone...
hehe :P
