Never really noticed the Fine Art section has a last artwork purchased thread but not last artwork framed. Post your frame ups in here and prove you're not just hoarding your art in some portfolio or flat file.

Here's a couple of my most recent jawns to start. Invader's Warning, and Walker's Mona Simpson.

Slick frame-jobs on both pieces...well done!

Kevin -

That NEISBAW jumps off that brick wall! Nice job...

Thats my favorite of Lee's work without question - one of my favorite pieces period. Let me know if you ever know where one is sitting fairly priced - its been an ISO of ours for some time.

Thanks Jim, I have been looking for the right framer for a few months and finally found someone I trusted with it. It's on a really thick stock and after 18 months in the flat file it still had not completely flattened.

Agree about it being Lee's best piece. It's always gotten lots of attention even in it's sleeve so I'm very happy to finally have it on the wall. :)

I'll keep my eye out for one, they don't come up that often and I think the going rate now may be between $1700-1900 but they are out there.

+ 200 shipping. ;)

Key is finding a stateside buyer for that price - although I appreciate that seller shipping it flat due to the paper stock.

I don't know anything about framing. So I just had the framers try something with 2 different color mats and double bevel.

What do you guys recommend with mats? Is it better to just do 1 single mat or multiple like I had done

^^ Totally up to you. A second mat will bump your price up, but usually adds to the image. Your Limon is a great example of that, but at the same time your Simkins looks great with just the one deep mat too.

Also, thanks much on the Walker/Invader comments duders. Both done by the framer around the corner from my new house. I think they really knocked them both out of the park, with my design ideas of course.

The vast majority of the framing cost is frame and glass. Mats are relatively cheap, except that they increase the size of the piece, hence larger frame, larger glass. A second mat however is typically 3/8", and doesn't increase overall size too much. So I think you get a lot of bang for your buck from a well-chosen second mat. Also, it moves your print that much further away from the glass, which is a good thing, particularly if you live in an area where humidity can be a problem.

This is what I would like it to be framed in...

and this is the one I have it in after they told me the price (at 75% off)

I went to Michael's, but am going to a local framer tomorrow to see if it gets better or worse.

Had a 60% off coupon that expired today. So I just picked up this quick pre-made frame and the mat for $30.

I don't have anything I have framed up on my walls yet. Still need to paint.
