I mostly use airbrush paints (acrylics) for customs because of the heavy pigmentation. Especially for colors where it matters like white, yellows, and definitely metals. Monster Kolor, Createx, etc. Liquitex and Golden regular acrylics as well.

Ecko have there been bad reviews of the spray or are you just declining on principle?

I use the AB paint with a brush mostly, I only use an AB/spray cans to do large areas of flat color normally. As long as it is acrylic and with heavy quality pigmentation even from a spray can you can just spray it out into a cup and still brush away.

yeah i normally use the AB monster kolor too when brushing, hopefully the brushables will catch up as far as colors are concerned. matt said hes working on silver, gold, and charcoal in brushables right now. ive also used the transparent paints from them a bit. i want to get an airbrush for my customs but havent taken the plunge yet, a bit too pricey when looking at how often i would be using it.
i also recently got some of the clear coat in the can, good stuff. it really makes the monster kolors pop. it didnt have as much of an effect on the liquitex tho.

tcpglobal and the bay have some inexpensive ABs that are OK for models/customs. I use a crappy single action AB for laying down flat color on large areas most of the time and I have a more expensive dual action Badger even. Unless you plan to do everything from full coats to tiny detail you really don't need much, it is like having a spray can that you can custom mix color for. I still prefer brushes though. I use my regular shop air compressor with a cheap regulator/moisture trap from Harbor Freight and a $12 AB from the bay and it works great for tons of stuff.

yeah thats another reason i havent jumped the gun on it, im not sure how much use i would get out of one. it would be handy for larger pieces but im not sure it would be worth the investment. something to think about though. thanks.

I meant it's awesome! I use monster kolor 90% of the time... I've used it on customs as well as trim pieces for my car

I like the candy colors, but less than impressed with the clear coat. While it gives a great gloss, it is a little on the yellow side. I found an Ultra Clear by Kustom Shop that is a true clear, and I can buy more clear for less money than the Monster Kolor. Since I had issues with the clear coat, I decided to use less of the MK products and have been buying House of Kolor Airbrush paints. I really like what I have used thus far. I like MK, just find that it is very expensive to use, and I have been buying HOK in bigger size amounts for less money. I think if Moster Kolor came down on their prices I would buy more. But I'm getting as good if not better paint for less money.

Just my 2 cents.
