Has anyone seen this? The ultimate vinyl Beethoven bust - in flocked orange signed by Frank and Malcom McDowell. Text is pasted (I did not misspell...) from ebay and retrooutlaw.

It's very exciting to me- except for this detail:

"Signed by Malcolm McDowell and Kozik. There are 100 of these made and 10 artist proofs. 40 have already been sold and 2 artist proofs are gone. 1 is sold and #1AP goes to the man Frank Kozick."

This is the only version that comes with an exclusive print signed by both Kozik and McDowell.

This auction is for the regular edition and is a presale. This project has just been given the go and these will be ready from the factory in 4 to 5 months. Expected drop date is the end of May. I don't want to ask the obvious, but- artist proofs are being sold by them? This is something I'd really like- I'll leave it at that for now.

while Frank has said we might get these, the text you put there is not encouraging. I am puzzled as to why the 10 artist proofs are availble and not GOING TO THE ARTIST!? Isn't that what usually happens with artist proofs? I could be wrong but why call them AP's if you are selling them with the regular run?

Ok..I 'made the call' and here is the info I have.

1. they are taking preorders

2. if they get enough perorders they are going to make the edition

3. they are selling the AP's. probably for a premium.

4. I WILL be recieving enough units for the subbers.

5. release date is going to be at SDCC or some time after.

Out of curiosity, are they being produced by ultraviolence like the OGs or is it a different mold/etc.?

I love it! Next to the GID and black, this is my favorite. I bet this would look so killer under blackligh too. I'm so excited for this... well, I'm excited for the idea of an orange bust that i could possibly get in my subber box. but....

Are you serious???? So they set the price ridiculously high, and they aren't going to make it if they don't pre-order enough?? I feel really bad for the handfull of people who pre-ordered this like five months ago, and are just going to get refunded. If this isn't already made, it's not going to happen, especially at $450 a pop. Either way, we'd have to wait till they pre-sell enough to print them, then print them and get them shipped to america, and that could take months or years. Even if they got the go-ahead today and started to make them, would they even be here in time for comic-con? Doesn't seem at all likely that there can be a two month turnaround from production to shipping (especially with all the toy problems lately), so I probably won't see this during my subscription at all.

It seems like they're testing the waters to see if a $450 kozik production piece would work BEFORE they print it. And i like how they're selling it as "pre-order" yet it doesn't say anywhere on the site that the piece might never even get produced unless they pre-sell enough. Backwards business at it's finest!

Would have much prefered if Ultraviolence made this and was sold directly from frank...

Meh, I've got all the beethoven I need, to me this piece is unnecessary, and the price is rediculous. Bring on Dead Che!!!!! (And the Reagan and Thatcher set, if that is still planned!!!)

I agree that it's expensive, and this scheme makes it seem unlikely to get made-

And THANK YOU Frank for 'making the call'-

I do have a Beethoven already, but to me a flocked-orange version is the perfect pop-art iconic treatment of the sculpt. So it's kind of the best, I think. I really want it to happen.

I wonder if the price is so high because they're literally going to pay for the entire production with 25% sold- which is a really bad way to do business (hello financial world collapse!) ... or if the price is high because it's expensive to flock them, re-pour for 100, and pay for the signatures... but even that seems like it can't add $300!

This is where the communication breakdown sucks- I'd have been happy to step up and help finance the production... oh well. Fingers crossed.
