Last few months have spent big money for me; I got a black, OG Possessed, and a Severed head...$700 plus the French.

I trying not to go too crazy this month but I'm starting to get into Amanda Visell stuff so looks like I'm gonna drop atleast another $400 or so...Plus BOTH, plus Devilrobots(Thank god I'm not too into them).

I'd say $400 is the norm...It seems just when I say I'm gonna give it a break, some thing new and awsome drops and so does my band acount ballance.

Lately purchased a Giant Snorse for 340 shipped.

Paid 27 bucks for a set of 4 motug egg qees.

35 for a bill mcmullen dunny.

Was gonna buy a black possessed but the Snorse popped up for sale. Only thing I plan on picking up is a couple small ewok figures, and the gold horselington.

Rest of my money is going towards my trip to Europe in June. :expensive:

Around 5 G's in June. Slowed down in July b/c of the new house. I think I spent around 2 K this month so far. Still have to buy the Touma and pay for a couple of customs before this month is over. August is my birthday month, so I'm going crazy.

Roughly $5500 since May of this year. I'll probably break 10 by the end of the year at this rate.

i spend mostly around 200$ a month on toys, mainly because starting school and don't have much room to display anymore.

also I have been doing custom toys instead of buying mass production pieces, which are a lot cheaper and more fun for me.

I've been collecting Vinyl just for 6 years or so, and action figures and various pieces since 1990. Over all I've spent about $60,000. When I met my Wife, I promised I would cut back. In the past year I've only spect about 3 Grand. My office is wall to wall toys. My Wife says it is like looking at chaos, but for me it is a creative environment. My name is Rich...and I am an addict!!

I collect the Toki doki figures plus now I am addicted to Munny and since I started my Munny designs at the beginning of the month, I have spent around $150 which means that this Munny obsession will make me go broke.

from these calculations alone, Kaws, Huck Gee and Frank Kozik must live in diamond plated houses and drive gold plated rocket cars that fly and shoot titanium plated armored hamsters.

just look at how much Huck can make in 10 minutes. Skullhead Dunny 10 X $900 = $9000. Of which at least $6500 must have gone straight to his pocket. Thats the advantage of painstakingly handpainting your own customs...

cost of paint - $500
cost of blank dunnys x 10 - $1000?
production costs/advertising - $1000
factory costs - $0!!!
price of handpainted dunny x 10 = $9000

so basically, if you see a toy producer rocking some alien technology, its becoz they have the money to buy it, not becoz they work for the space program.

Honestly never really thought of this much, but I guess I spend anywhere from $10-150 a month. There are some months that I won't buy anything or just make small purchases. Then there are those months where I seem to spend like there's no tomorrow.

What's the point in bumping a 9 year old thread?!

I think it's a good discussion topic. And given how dead the forums are usually, we'll have to settle on reading past posts of boardies long gone.

Very topical due to the weird state of the scene.

I barely spent any money on vinyl in 2016 and don't see 2017 being any better.

I'm in the same boat. I love this scene but for various reasons I have only bought one figure in well over a year and that was a boardie creation. There are lots of cool things out there and the customizers have been knocking their art out of the park but I just don't have the money or space to have them. One day I'll be back to buying again but not for the next while.

Almost nothing on vinyl, but there's tons of dope small-batch resin coming out all the time if you're into that. In the last week I've traded a Threezero Chappie figure for a KAWS open edition and Wetworks' Kidzilla and Gameragirl set, bought Stanley from Concrete Jungle and preordered Markneto (freaky animal takes on superheroes).

If you ignore the KAWS piece, that's still $450 on recently-released or upcoming stuff in a very short span of time.

I don't know. I wasn't around in 2006-2010 but it seems to me that, when folks say the art toy scene is dead, they mean vinyl art isn't getting mass-produced and snapped up in the numbers it used to be, and the hobby is firmly outside of mainstream art culture. That's all true. But we're seeing better and better small-batch releases from lots of emerging artists and I think that, if you're into having a beautiful piece to appreciate and not a recognisable brand to tell your friends about, now is still a great time to be collecting.

Anyway that's my unsolicited opinion :D
