Awesomely reassuring. I'm a bit pessimistic and that interview shut down all my concerns. Both feet firmly boarded the hype train now.

Frank Kozik as creative director is EXACTLY what KR needed.

I am very optimistic. I want more art toys. I loved the licensed stuff but one thing I did miss was those series with toys designed by artists like Junko or Burgerman that were not dunnys and not licensed. I'd love to see something like that from Huck and Rsin :D

Someone at KR tell Frank!

Also, I wouldn't mind a series called The Frank Kozik show, just because that actually sounds cool.
Mega Man was the original 'Bot.

Well, no, not really Astroboy was but KR wasn't making an Astroboy line . . .
KR MAKE an ASTROBOY TOY please!

I particularly like the comment he made about "certain" longtime KR artists having to step up their game if they want future production dunnys. :axe:

Kozik commented that you won't see new product under the 'new KR' for a year, so don't expect much change in the short term.
As a KR collector since 2006 I have zero interest in the license world of toys and the direction that KR has gone in over the last couple of years. Kozik's comments seem to be hedged between a promise of more originality in the design for future art toys but also recognizing that the license stuff is not going away.

The irony I find is that there is always a call to go back to having more limited dunny series in order to get back to what makes a series hot - the limited nature of it. As a collector of both 3" and 8" dunnys, if KR is on the brink then maybe it is better to draw a line where the dunny figures end. This just parallels the overall life of the dunny figure to then being limited, rather than trying to continue it in perpetuity. For every future series released it only lessens the interest in series from past years. Why not have ended the dunny after 10 years and create a new platform / concept for the centrepiece figure into the future?

I suspect the new KR changes are good news indeed. I hope Kozik and crew tap into the resource they have on the Forum -- I've seen a lot of intelligent insight and tons of good ideas here! If I were him/them, I'd open a thread soliciting ideas from the fans/collectors here -- everything from artists, series ideas, and business/distribution suggestions... *hint, hint*

Awesome! In that case... my two cents.

3" Dunny is my fav platform. Like most folks here, I'm not a big fan of the licensed series, but get that they make sense from the business side -- i just think there should only be one at a time max. Since the stores have closed, I assume KR is seeking other distribution, and think they should be stocked in every comic book store in the country, taking advantage of the licensed series' marketability while also providing an outlet for art toys too. A full list of distributors should be maintained at KR.com.

I've never bought direct from KR.com, but hear that the shipping fees were/are ridiculous. It usually costs around $2.50 to ship a single dunny, as anyone who's traded through the mail knows. More equitable shipping costs mean more orders! Also, the new Mishka Bad News 3" is listed for $14.99 online, but retailed for $20 in Vegas, where I was able to pick one up recently. Why the difference? Annoying. Be straight with us and make your product as available as possible -- simple as that.

Huck Gee has done some fantastic work (including an entire series or two), but I agree with other posters that room should be made for a larger diversity of artists. I'd love to see more from Jermaine Rogers, Scott Tolleson, 64 Colors, DGPH and Damon Soule, among others. I'd also love to see KR tap Drew Millward for a dunny, or a series! I think the themed dunny series have yielded some really great work, but also think that the Art of War theme was too specific or limiting somehow. Lastly, I'm a big fan of Damon Soule's Life Inventsville series, and would love to see more unique series like that in the future -- definitely a way to allow single artists to shine.

THANKS!
