"total disgrace, alot of artists have been screwed by mindstyle, this is a claim that can be backed up BIGTIME!. In fact we could write a book on it! I don't have a grudge cause my situation has been done n gone, but i know of many other HUNGRY people wanting to produce work who will never see what they so rightly deserve, payment and samples, and whatever mindstyle decides to do with your art...you will have no say or control"

It's really not a fair comparison though. SDCC has been around for almost 40 years, NYCC only 4.

MINDstyle will drop their SDCC exclusive Benny and Red Bird Cool Edition by Kathie Olivas at their booth (#4249) throughout the show. The newest edition of Kathie’s in-demand two-figure set is limited to 150 pieces and will go for $150 each. Since it’s limited to just 150 pieces, MINDstyle will offer 25 per day (Th-Su) by way of a random drawing for the right to buy each morning with the results posted at Noon. On preview night, it’s first come first serve. Art Toy Society (ATS) members will be able to pre-order the figure.

a random drawing? you mean you have to win a raffle to get the chance to pay $150 for something, who wants to jump through those hoops?

But I guess it beats getting into the hall and finding everything is bought out by people with exihibit passes.

You line up and get a raffle ticket. Then you come back at a certain time and either the winning numbers are posted or drawn live. Usually posted. This has become the way of the Con. Most of the big releases were done by raffle ticket last year. So be prepared to see other booths using the ticket system.

If it wasn't for the raffle ticket I would of never got my Possessed, they would of all gone way to exhibitors. It's really hit and miss. It sucks for those people that line up at 6am and are first in line for a big release and then don't have their number pulled. But it betters everybody's chances by limiting the amount that go to exhibitor pass holders.

Yeah I get it, I was thinking of last year when all the James jean Process Recess 2 limited editions were gone before the hall even opened.

But why not just banned exhibit pass holders from buying things before the hall opens or something. I just really hate raffles, I never win :killme:

Personally I hate the raffle ticket idea. I believe in first come first serve.

Last year I got up at 5am and sat in line for certain things but then found out it was a raffle and didn't win a single thing.

Maybe I'm just a big loser. *sulks*

Nobody enforces not letting the exhibitor pass holders get at the front of the line. Last year they kept announcing over the loud speaker that exhibitor pass holders had to leave the lines, but non of them did and none of the booths told them to get out of line. I was one of the first people through the doors last year and possessed was already sold out to all of them. It was a lot nicer not having to get up so early the next day, and either way I wouldn't have gotten the piece because the exhibitor pass guys(who oddly enough didn't even really have any booths) would have gotten em all that day too. So at least it's nice to have a chance.
If you ever see this record on vinyl, I'll buy it from you: Firestarter(ex Teengenerate)

That was on the first day and MunkyKing did kick out exhibitor pass holders the next day. They also took pictures and/or something of those who did get a possessed to make sure they didn't come back the next day and score another one. It was something new and not very organized. Hopefully this year things will run a bit smoother. MunkyKing and MindStyle were the 2 booths that seemed to have the most problems. KidRobot used wristbands which I think worked better in my opinion.

I agree cept I'm chasing the Ledkins, Han, Craola, JLED, and Vissel. I've never been one for packaging so maybe if people don't want the whole set you can go halfsies with someone who wants the figures you don't. :D

Yeup, I think wristbands, or handing out numbered tickets for the first come first served seemed to be the fairest in my opinion.

I don't like the raffle because people with large parties or friends had an advantage because they got multiple tickets and thus a better chance of winning.

I know how chaotic and crazy Comicon so my hats off to the vendors who try to come up with something fair so that we don't have to sit around and wait in long lines and end up not getting anything.
