Banksy art authenticated?

Post by Riffbear » Tue Jun 13, 2017 3:57 am

Hey everyone.
There's no real way to get Banksy art authenticated is there?

My friend got a piece through an auction in the states and the only thing they had was a written letter by the person who obtained the piece..
All it says is,

I Walter king certify that the Banksy work of art were obtained by myself on location with the consent of Thomas Cooper
of The Elm.
These photos show the painting before and after I acquired them.
I attest that they now belong to me and I authorise Nathan Watts to sell on my behalf.

Problem is my pal didn't get the photos with it.
Seeking KAWS prints.

Actually, getting Banksy pieces authenticated is quite easy. He has an entire dedicated team for it: http://www.pestcontroloffice.com/

If it's a authentic canvas or print they'll issue a COA. Which is absolutely crucial for buying/selling Banksy pieces. Unfortunately, the fact that your friend purchased a Banksy without one is quite worrisome.

If it's a piece that was not meant to be sold. As in a piece removed from the street that you're referring to, Pest Control will not authenticate it. In fact, they'll flat out tell you it was not done by Banksy.

I hope that helps. If you have any more questions feel free to PM.
