Last night my roommate told me I got something from kidrobot. I came back to the apartment and was antsy about opening the package. I looked in my room and there was a large envelope sitting on my bed, but I was confused because I bought 6 shirts. I didn't think 6 kr shirts could fit in that small of a package so I opened the envelope a little wary. The first things I noticed were that all the shirts were there, and were thinner than those I had bought in the past. I thought maybe these shirts are thin because they were on sale for $15 each, but their retail prices ranged from $40 to $50. I looked at the tags of the new shirts and noticed they were made in the US. The shirts I had previously bought between 2007 and 2008 were made in Mexico. I'm guessing kr moved their factory to the states, where labor is obviously more expensive. I don't mean to kill the music, but it seems like kr, instead of increasing the price of the shirts and keep the same quality, reduced the quality of the shirts to keep the same price.

Mine were from Mexico, maybe the newer kidrobot clothes are from the U.S. though. But I'd assume that it would be cheaper to do it in Mexico anyways.

I just looked at mine. 3 from Mexico, 1 from China. Personally, I felt that they are much thicker than your average shirt. Also, I think America Apparel makes the clothes now

The two I got from the sale were both made in Mexico, but they were from a couple seasons ago...

So I looked at each individual shirt I bought last week... I got 2 t-shirts made in the US, both were thin and of decent quality; I felt a little ripped off because I paid retail for one of them. 1 shirt I got was made in Mexico, which is thick. My polo was made in China as well as the 2 t-shirts I bought for my girlfriend. These t-shirts were thin as well but are stretchier and softer.

Overall the quality of the t-shirts made in the US look and feel the worst of the 3 places the shirts are made. If kr has their "Made in US" shirts made by american apparel I am disappointed... the quality of aa shirts is only decent. This made me not want to pay $40-$50 a shirt from kr now, knowing there's a possibility that I am getting a not top quality shirt made by american apparel. I didn't mind paying $40+ a shirt when the shirts I got were all thick. Should I blame this economy? :axe:

I don't think thinner necessarily means cheaper or lesser quality. Just look at American Apparel, you're in nippleville when you wear one of those shirts but they are considered of high quality. They don't shrink and they last quite a bit.

Daeo is right on the money. Thick shirts tend to not feel as soft and don't drape as well. Thickness has nothing to do with quality. Country of origin is also a poor way to judge quality. The highest quality and most technical sew houses are in China along with some of the worst. Is it a good shirt? Wear it a few years and you will know. Some people judge shirts badly if the print fades quickly but that is more likely a result of substandard inks or printing.

The only t-shirt I've purchased from KR is a Zoomie shirt which I totally love. However, I've noticed the design on the front is looking worse for wear...It's not a t-shirt I wear constantly. I'm just a little bummed the design seems to be damaged after not that much wear.

The overal feel of the shirt is very comfortable though.

The last couple shirts I got from them had a new ink on them that felt really thick and sticky. Definitely will crack pretty soon... I don't really prefer how it feels.
