Would like to make my first Munny...advice?

So I'm a n00b to making Munnys but I really want to start a series as soon as I can. I'd love to hear any tips or advice that some of you more seasoned Munny artists have, such as...type of paints/inks/materials to use...how to augment a Munny (would Sculpey work? Something else?)...

For instance...I'd like to do an angel series or dark angel or fallen angel series. How might I go about giving my Munny wings?
