Thanks for the comments again guys. The dragon is pretty much out of my head. Probably looks like the tattoo cause thats all I study and keep in my mind...Don't worry I'm not stalking you.hahahahahaha.......

I wish I can learn to tattoo. I love the art and probably the most influenced to me.If anyone in California needs a apprentice for their tattoo shop, let me know.

Forgot to add that I have started inking this thing last night. You can see the partially done sketch on my flickr. Can't post it up right now cause I gotta head out. But here's the link. Enjoy...

The detail is too sweet. Wish I had the patience to do something with this kind of depth. Good going.

So I started to ink this guy a couple nights ago. I'm having lots of fun with it and at the same time learning from some mistakes. But I can't wait for the outcome. I hope it comes out the way I vision it and that everyone will enjoy the outcome also. Here are some inking progress shots.

One thing I wish....that the head was removable. It's bolted on in the inside....It's kinda hard to hold this guy with one hand while inking with the other...I'm kinda weak.....

hey nice job so far, it's looking pretty good, can't wait to see the finished product.

i have a couple of questions, what medium are you using for inking? can you elaborate on the troubles you've been running into so we can learn from it?

thank you.

Thanks for the comment.

the medium I'm usein is a acrylic based ink. I use a quill pen with all my artwork so it's nice to have a ink that will stay on and dry fast enough for me to work on it more instead of waiting for it to totally dry.

The problem I ran into is that while holding the lower body where the samurai helmet is, my hands got sooo hot that it actually wiped away parts that I inked. So I learned to start from top and work on down. Not a total disaster. I can fix it and in another way it actually gave a nice shadow.

Hope this helps.

this is awesome, I love Japanese imagery. Want to expand my tattoo with some more Japanese style, just can't decide what.

thanks for the info liljapan. i didn't realize you were the one who did the "ink it" too. i had asked the same question on that post and that munny was pretty gnarly too.

have you used a paper towel as a buffer when you hold your munny? just a thought, it may help.

Thanks for the comments again guys. I'm still inking it right now and it's been fun so far.

As for the towel technique, I actually tried it. And it failed on me. So at this point I'm just gonna hold it with my fingers at the areas that has no ink and work on it that way. Which is ok with me cause I love challenges.

For painting it....not gona happen. I'm not good with colors and I suck at painting. I rather stick with something I'm confident about for this one. For sure I'm still practicing with colors.

Did someone say tattoo????!!! let me know if anyone needs a tattoo design. I'm up for it.

More update pics coming tonight before I sleep. Hope you guys enjoy it.

So continuing from last night, I have finished almost all the line woks on the head. While the line work is drying I started the shading. The stippling has begun!!!

I decided to finish the head first and then start the body since the head is not detachable. If anyone knows how to take it off, please let me know. It's a pain in the arsh trying to ink the bottom of the head..... #-o

Note: The whole piece will be finished with stippling.......

You should send the pics to the Munnyworld contest if it gets selected we can send this one, and I will get it back after the show. But it will be very cool if it gets chosen for the show in November. go to the KR website and you can find instruction on where to send the pics.

I can not believe how is turning out, I need to give him a welcome party when ready. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Thanks guys for the nice comments. I appreciate the support and i can't wait to finish this guy. But deffinetly will take some time. With work and everything. I wish I can just lock myself in the room for a week to do this.

Thanks again and I hope everyone will enjoy the outcome. I just got home from work and about to start working it on it again. Every second I have I want to work on this. I love to stipple and it helps me calm down.

also, I would like to send this to the munny show entry, but I don't think I can finish it on time. I'm not sure if they will accept a half done custom also. Maybe I'll just send it and see.

Lastly, a welcoming party??!!! If you do take pics and share it man. I think he likes to drink Coronas.....
