Put up a few detolfs with hidden leds

Post by vudumonkey25 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 1:56 pm

Just moved and put up a few detolfs with hidden leds and black lights. Toys are finally displayed like they should be. Now I just need to get more risers.

Could you show how you have your LEDS hidden? looks like a vertical strip?

Why did you decide to elevate them? Just curious.

So I ordered these [led channels](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/45-degr ... 0.0.iv8moF) and cut them to size height wise. The issue was they were just to wide to fit between the outer glass and the metal brace/shelf. So I trimmed down the sides with a table saw so there were no fins left, it was essentially just a metal triangle and it slipped right in.

Also wired bought bright (cool) white leds, I was going to do color changing but the cool white will make the toys colors pop the most as the RGB leds aren't a true white. A cheap led remote that does on/off and dimmer and a power supply

Once I knew where they where going I drilled holes down through everything. Stuck the leds to my now modified channels with attached wire. Slipped the channel back in and fed the wire down and wired it all underneath

[Here's pictures of what I did](

I wanted the light to create an X within the detolf, but it would be a lot easier I think to use a flat led channel. I dont think they would have to be modified, they are cheaper and more readily available although I haven't done to much research into that.

I thought having them on the floor would look to low. I didn't wanna stare down and neglect the toys at the bottom. I also think it helps with dust and stuff getting into them

Some older pictures mix with a few newer. Pretty much way more wall art and a few more toys then whats in these pictures.
