Cool. I've heard of pet raccoons in other countries. Kinda popular back in Japan in some circles but we can't have them here in Canada as they are classified as a native wild animal. I can imagine the chaos she can get going though! Really smart, those guys!

Actually, I was driving home last night and one ran right in front of me. I screeched and swerved, but still ended up hitting it, but not solidly. I stopped and looked around, but didn't see any carcass, so hopefully it was just stunned and managed to run off...

This is indeed true she is as smart as they come you will only fool her once with something and then never again too smart sometimes :P

johnnyvinyl the story behind Indy is she is my grlfriends pet she got here when she was only a few weeks old as her mother rejected her.
Nina "my gf" had to wake up 2-3 times a night to feed her and make her go toilet (nasty stuff) as they are so delicate at that age and need so much looking after!
To tell you the truth having a coon is a full time job and not for the faint hearted they cause a lot of trouble and can be quite temperamental on the plus side when you have earnt her trust she is very affectionate.
The main thing is she makes Nina happy i get my toys she has her Raccoon

Wow that just seems crazy for me too imagine things as big as this running around free when anyone from the U.K sees her the first thing they comment on is her size and secondly my gf wrote the car off the other week swerving to miss a duckling so god knows what would happen if we had raccoons

She always uses her litter box he would probably rather explode than not use it which is amazing!
She knows to sit but normally takes a bribe
Nina is trying to get her to lie down sometimes she does it but i think thats more fluke than anything else.

1st time i have ever heard of someone having a raccoon as a pet. Very unique indeed.

A couple of months back our 2 dogs started barking like crazy at a tree in our backyard. I figured it was a opossum or bird. When i went out there to call them in i saw that there was a racoon on the bottom perch of the tree staring back down at the dogs. As i got closer i could see that right above her in the tree were 2 little baby raccoons, mom was just in protective mode. I haven't seen them since so hopefully they were just passing through and made it to the nature trail down the road.

Haha! thats my GF for you quite the card shall we say

Yeah i can imagine her being so protective over her babys even when Indy just gets something she wants if shes has it its her made that mistake a few times and it normally ends up with me get bitten and then me chasing her round the place haha!
We always make up in the end though no matter how much biting and scratching there is :partyman:

Here's another interesting piece.

I'm often drawn to things that look like one thing but are actually something else. Like many, I like skulls and I thought that this looked like an artist's interpretation of a skull. It's actually a hand shield from the Dinka tribe, which I purchased in South Africa a few years ago.

Ha! I was also a Liverpool fan from back in the day when John Barnes was playing. He was of Jamaican heritage and I was born and raised in Jamaica, so I'm always for Jamaican athletes - Barnes, Lennox Lewis, Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, etc..

Was kinda pulling for Bayern today though...

Not quite the same team anymore but every now and the we get a flicker of hope winning a cup this year was nice could have been 2 though!

Thats pretty cool you were raised in Jamaica bet you have some crazy storys i have lived in england most of my life and france for part of it right near spain so went skiing there quite often which was brilliant!

My Gf wants to move to the states asap so could end up there in the future if we can find jobs that will allow us :partyman:

Funny how the grass is always greener - I would have loved to have lived in England or France at some point.

What lines of work are you and your GF in?

Hey Forumites,

Disappointed that more peeps haven't posted their cool things! Remember, this thread is for ANYTHING cool in your collection - doesn't have to be ethnographic or natural history as has been posted thus far.

If you think it's cool, then post it!

Here's something to keep the thread going. I won't say what it is. Any guesses?

Kinda looks like some sort of cap, but it's too small...... Maybe a baby cap? Lol
