I've been looking at the images from the comic on your site.. I'm guessing this is the story of scarygirl ,I like the way it is told with out any words. It says it is published every week in 'playground' what is 'playground'?

hi trans6

We are aiming to have 36 episodes all up. It's kind of an organic process as the general story has been worked out but how it is told is made up on a weekly basis.
My main aim is to make Scarygirl or some part of her into an animated series...but still with no words.
oh thanks thats very interesting, I've heard of 'Milk' from people on these boards but never seen a copy. An animated series would be great, would this be a flash movie type thing? I noticed on your site it says 'movie' but nothing is up yet.

maybe flash - but for tv. The other option that I've been approached with is stopmotion...could be kind of cool.

Hey Nathan and Allen and everyone,

I checked out the ScaryGirl figures down at Toy Tokyo here in NYC this weekend and I just wanted to compliment you on the quality. Toys, packaging and presentation all look great, nice work! Cheers,
hi everyone,

sorry for slacking off in my replies to you. Glad everyone appreciates the scarygirl stuff being made. Have a couple of interesting things up my sleeve that you may get a kick out of (but cant go into details for another month or so)...anyway, for those of you who follow the scarygirl comic or get Playground, here's the latest episode fresh off the apple mac...
Post subject: printed graphic novel?
PostPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2003 11:51 am
Hi Nathan,

I was wondering if you're going to publish the episodes in a printed graphic novel?
I think it would be a success!

Thanks for the info.
i've had 2 people approach me about this. I think it would be a great idea but I need to finish it totally and refine a few pages before I get too serious about this...

but it will happen eventually.

Hi Nathen,
Love your work! Really interesting characters and style.

You mentioned animation; here at Spite Your Face Productions we'd certainly be interested in working with you on any animated project... if you like please take a look at our website (www.spiteyourface.com) where you can see examples of our previous work. Hope you enjoy!

I think Scarygirl would look great as stylised stop-motion especially...

Look forward to seeing more of the comic and toys!

---------------
Post subject: animation collaboration
PostPosted: Sun Jul 13, 2003 10:42 pm
Hi Tim,

Beautiful work on your site...great illustrations too! Really like your way of thinking (would suit the scarygirl quirky feel).

Currently I'm attached to an animation producer in Australia and we are steadily putting together a scarygirl pitch for various people. We are also investigating all our options with the multimedia side of things too...i'll show him your work and see what he thinks (it may suit one of the avenues being researched).

Love the little flash movies on your site by the way... especially 'Cat', very strange!

thanks! - 'Cat' was one of the first Flash animations i did (made in a weekend while stuck in a small apartment in london).

actually, the Flying Cat logo kind of came out of this animation.

oh, and here's the latest episode in the scarygirl comic (zombie dock workers!)
ooo... do you have plans to have these characters that you "unveiled" in the comic made into figures?

hmmm... and one of the dockside zombies has passing resemblance to a certain rodent? hehehe... nice.

it's a possibility these could be made down the track...we do have a different figure in the works that will be released very late in the year/early next - i'll keep everyone posted.

the mickey reference is definitely there...though i was trying to give them all a japanese traditional hairdo kind of look...not sure why...but it sort of seemed cool at the time.
