Post by mokovc » Thu May 31, 2007 3:26 pm

i found this on vinyl pulse monday, enjoy!
Monkey King by Nathan Jurevicius

We hope this edition of Proto Monday finds you well on Memorial Day. Today we have a look at Nathan Jurevicius's Monkey King figure forthcoming from Munky King. Nathan originally created his take on the mischievous Chinese mythological character for an animation project done with MTV Asia. His rendition of the prankster exudes a sleek, dare we say it regal appearance in contrast with the character's often comical appearance. Once Munky King's Patrick Lam saw Nathan's version of his store's namesake, the vinyl figure project took flight on a fluffy cloud. Under expert sculptor Dave Pressler's keen eye and steady hand, Monkey King made the jump from 2D animation to 3D as an 8" vinyl figure with removable staff. removable cloud and bendy arms and tail. We'll have more information including run sizes and colorway info as it becomes available.

I pulled this info. off the munky king sit. I e-mail Nathan not to long ago about the release date but he did not tell me a date but passed on some other info. about the wind up owl toys released by toy tokyo in Feb. most likely. These look cool as well.

produced by MUNKY KING

MK - 006

Nathan Jurevicius originally created this rendition of The Monkey King for an animation project with MTV Asia. The opportunity to make a toy of our namesake with the likes of Nathan along with the expert sculpting work of Dave Pressler was truly a blessing from the main monkey himself.

The Monkey King stands 8 inches tall on a removable cloud. Bendy arms and tail hold his staff, ready to administer a beat down on the Kingdom of Heaven.

They have the finished product on display at Munky King Melrose now. Very impressive figure! They had 2 colorways on display. The original version, I presume, and a totally sick orange colorway. They werent sure when they would be dropping but they did say soon. Before SDCC soon!
