A Thousand Apologies Are Not Enough - Watch Out

Post by taniamc » Wed Feb 20, 2008 8:16 am

Hey Kids,

I am writing to let you guys know about the order experience that I had with www.athousandapologies.com. You might have heard of the website because CurseTheSeen is on these forums and is always posting about sales and whatnot. You might remember back in December he posted about free shipping for Vivisect Playset Preorders. I decided to go ahead and order a few blind boxes from him and try my luck on this series. I placed my order on JAN. 26th. This is a very important detail, so keep it in mind for later.

I spoke with CurseTheSeen several times before and after making the order, and was told that some problems had happened with the StrangeCo release date. It sounded legit and I'm sure it was. I kept patiently waiting. A week or so ago I was told that my order had finally shipped. That's all, "Yes, it has been shipped out." I received it this morning.

It came in a padded envelope and the first thing I noticed was that the boxes had been damaged. But the note that accompained my order was much more important. On my invoice was a hand written note.

On this note it said that he was sorry for the delay. He said that he was suppose to receive 3 cases of the Vivisect series, and he only received 2. Because he got 2 cases, and not 3, and because my order should have been from the 3rd case... he was FORCED to send me boxes that had been OPENED for open box sales. No big surprise here that the figures in the order were commons. Just to place emphasis here, my blind box order was filled with boxes that he had opened and gone through. Not just the boxes, the foil and everything. Figures had been identified, then sorted I'm sure, and then sent to me.

Now, of course, I am angry. Not only did he have ample time and opportunity to discuss this issue with me before mailing me out his open box leftovers, but when logging into the forums this morning... of which I've been absent lately because of my workload, I find this thread started by him:

http://forums.kidrobot.com/viewtopic.php?t=96249

Lets look at it together, shall we?

Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 3:42 am Vivisect Playset blind box for $8 FREE SHIPPING

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Vivisect Playset is back in stock at A Thousand Apologies.com for only $8 per blind box. All Vivisect Playset orders include FREE shipping.

Hmm, interesting. So... he didn't have blind boxes to send someone who placed their order back in Jan. But apparently he has ample blind boxes to sell to whatever john or jane wanders into his store on Feb 18th. I might add, it still shows that he has blind boxes in stock on his website. An interesting note, it does not show ANY open boxes for sale on his website.

Obviously, If I had wanted to buy open boxes I could have done so on this forum several weeks ago. I could have bought ones that I actually wanted, and only those. I could have had them by now. Matter of fact, stores in my local area have had the series since a week after the release. But I didn't buy any because I had already ordered them from this guy. Now they are sold out here as well.

I just want you guys to know, because I'm pretty sure there isn't anyone on these forums that wants to order a blind box and receive an box that has been opened with a common figure inside. There is definitely something retarded going on here, and since there are recent posts from this fellow, I am posting this immediately after receiving my order to warn you guys before you run over there to buy his stuff.

I will be sending him my two cents as well.

T:C

Thanks. Usually I wouldn't do something like this. Usually I would contact the seller first and give them the benefit of the doubt. But in this particular situation, where dishonestly can't really be denied, I would rather warn you guys first and deal with him second. I have sent him a PM and copied him on everything I've said here, so he can see the full extent of my complaint rather than trying to retype it and personalize it just for him... which could be a dangerous task anyways.

This is really unfortunate. I think I almost ordered from A Thousand Apologies. I sure am glad I didn't now. Hopefully the proprietor will step up and explain this.

BUY FROM US, we WON'T SCREW YOU!

my mother has opened a toy store in south jersey, and i've sent her some mail order business from these very boards, including 3 Violet Fatimas (hope everyone has received theirs).

we sell a variety of blind box figures, and would NEVER open and reseal them. we want our customers to be happy and satisfied, and tell their friends about us, in order to promote good business.

please check out the shop's myspace page:
www.myspace.com/toygallery

you can look in the blogs to see which blind box figures she currently has in stock.
she also has zoomies which aren't pictured, and a only a few of the finders keepers blind boxes left.

my mom also accepts paypal, and she usually gets to the post office the next day after you place your order.

you can trust a mom, can't ya?

OK...from the post, you posted here BEFORE you even contacted the store. Why on earth would you do that? Yes I agree that this wasn't a great thing for them to have done, but the right thing to do is to contact them first and try to resolve it that way.

Usually, I would agree.

But I contacted him at the same time I posted this with the exact same thing. THe fact is that we spoke several times before he shipped out my order and had plenty of time and opportunity to fix it or explain the situation and choose not too.
When I saw that there had been posts yesterday talking about stuff for sale at this store, I decided to post this immediately and hopefully spare others the same experience.

generally i would agree with that.
you should give the shop the opportunity to explain themselves and make things right.
but, this guy is actively promoting his BLIND boxes while sending out open boxes to customers who already paid for BLIND boxes. And, he is telling taniamc
that open boxes are all he has and at the same time posting on here that he has blind boxes.
That and not giving them the opportunity to cancel their order or at least choose the open box they get is pretty unprofessional.

They can come on here and clear the air and make things right.
I'm sure they will, but until then, people should know that they could end up with random open boxes with no chance of a chase figure if they purchase from them.
