VARIANT??

Post by mANNEe » Sat Jan 12, 2008 2:02 am

So, I'm assuming the variant is the "chase" version, but since the box has a window, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of it being a "chase"? And do you think that whatever store u buy it from would be honest enough to send you the chase if they do get it, i would think they'd keep it for themselves. I know these are noobie questions, but I am a noobie to qee's. Help me with some knowledge, peace!

chase

Post by tedmcintyre » Sat Jan 12, 2008 8:54 am

Yep,
My thoughts exactly on this figure. Basically getting a "chase" will mean paying the big bucks on the bay, or finding an extremely honest retailer. I know someone posted that they had the GIDs in stock and didnt get any chases with their shipment. Toy2R really should have done 2 different releases with this, or at least a blind box. The window box chase just seems to greatly reduce the chances of getting one at retail

Yup, they kind of dropped the ball on the whole windowed box to a chase problem, I hope they get on this quick. I've just gotten into collecting 8" QEEs, and there are some great figures out there, but this is the kind of thing that will kill my desire to continue collecting them. That's just my 2 cents. Peace.

Yea. I was a bit disappointed about how Raymond did this release. I don't really understand how you have a variant/chase version with an open box. It isn't really a chase then. I haven't seen any on the Bay yet, but it sort of makes getting the set impossible. I would have liked to have seen two different releases on these figs. Like what they are doing with the minis.

I still love the standard release figure, but I would have spent more money if the variant was more obtainable.

Chase figures were around long before blind-box became common. There were all sorts of chase action figures in the 80's and 90's.

Bossy Bear (also by Toy2R) also has chase figures with a window box. I think it's something like 12 regular and 1 of each variant in a case.

Also, the Gama-go Deathbot...another figure with a chase and a window box.

Very true, but just using the gama-go black variant deathbot as an example, how many people here were actually able to obtain one for 20 dollars without a catch? No one that I heard of, actually most people if not everyone who has the black variant either had to shell out 60 bux for it, hit the bay for it, get a really sweet hook up for it, or is a retailer. . . Unlike variants from back in the day, when you would actually go to the store and have a fair chance at one, now a day you don't even get that fair chance. I'm just saying that there's a reason why any releases with variants/chases come in blind boxes, to give us an actual shot at scoring one. I just hope Raymond takes our opinions into consideration when releasing a future variant, but if not, I guess we all know where we can get a shot at a chase. . . And its not gonna be at retail. Later!

(by the way, I'm not taking shots @ anyone, and if I like the design of any future toy2r releases, I'm pretty sure I'm going 2 pick it up either way, chase or no chase)

for chase edition. we can do 2 production lot but if design just some difference, we do not see reason we run both in 504 pcs - that becomes too many pcs in the market. so I will suggest check you friendly store to get the limited edtion ahead before they get them.

confused

Post by tedmcintyre » Sun Jan 20, 2008 6:17 pm

i am confused, how can I check my frienly store before they get them? For one, that makes no sense, second there are no stores around here carrying them, so I have to rely on the internet sites and I am not sure which are even getting them. Finally, as a Kozik subber I would have thought TOY2R would have sent one of each to Frank but they did not. So if you know of a friendly store with a GID redrum variant they are willing to sell me at retail, please tell me Raymond. Otherwirse ill be off to the friendly ebay and high prices for all!!!!
Thanks

Can we keep this in the thread so I can find out what is going on as well. I do not have a store that around me that would be getting them , also I am not a Kozik Subber, so no advantages for my team.

gid

Post by tedmcintyre » Thu Jun 05, 2008 8:20 pm

I thought they were the same run size for both, but the GID seems to be harder to find. I had several oppourtunities to get the white one (and did), but have yet to see a GID jack anywhere but the bay.

I got lucky and got Both Jack versions right away both from the same retailer. The only one I dont have is the regular GID version.

I heard there were only 40 something made of each of the Jack versions?
