So I'm starting on a Munny and I want it to look like an official vinyl figure, meaning something you would buy off Kidrobot. I generally want the paint to be clean and solid rather than glossy and reflective. I don't think that's the look I want. But I will admit that sometimes figures looks great when glossy.

What kind of paint should I use? And more importantly, what kind of brushes should I use? Also, are there certain pre-painting procedures I should do? Ive read some threads around here and many suggest primer. I'm not too familiar with primer but will it make my figure glossy looking. If so, I may avoid using it.

Thanks for the help.

IMO I don't think it needs a primer if you're doing several coats, which I do to get more depth of hues.

I hit mine with 10 + coats of dull varnish to kill the gloss.

The main prob with it not looking like a production piece are the imperfections in the surface caused by the varying paint thicknesses, which I think looks better than production anyways.

I suppose depending on your concept, you could stencil or mask spray paint and that would give you an even look after hitting it with the dull varnish.
