KR promoted customs

Post by halfapparition » Tue Apr 25, 2017 8:48 am

Anyone notice that the recent KR promoted customs are by newer folks?

I am not saying this is bad or anything, but there are artists that have been doing this for over 10 years that in my opinion deserve a KR promoted custom series.

Thoughts?

I don't have a grudge cause my situation has been done n gone, but i know of many other HUNGRY people wanting to produce work who will never see what they so rightly deserve, payment and samples, and whatever mindstyle decides to do with your art...you will have no say or control"

I totally agree. I think it's great that Kidrobot is promoting custom pieces on a regular basis, and it would be awesome if they started to reach out to other artists that have been doing this for a while and deserve a shot!

I'm a big fan of these series.

It could be cool to see some of the older artists get a chance to flex too, but its been cool discovering some people through Kidrobot. I hope they continue to do this.

I get what you're saying, half, but I'm assuming that if someone like Nathan or Huck or whoever made a set of custom Dunnys, they'd have no problem selling them, whereas the new guys do need the extra promotion. My only problem so far with these promoted series is that a lot of them have been for Josh Mayhem. I think he has a great idea, but most of his releases over the past year or two have been pretty same-y. So I think it's great that KR have been promoting the Watch Parts and today's drops.
Great deals with: Trademark78, wyldaxe, yanksb11, lediscode, Nisares, Slideglide, broke4toys, OK_DOMO, kudospop, MotherGoose, Reg_M, LuckyKid19, Jfactor

It's been a real honour to have my pieces promoted by Kidrobot. Due to the nature of my custom work they can't be mass produced (takes almost 50 hours to make just one), so it's amazing to know that my pieces end up in some great collections.

That would be really cool. Its been awesome discovering some newer artists, but it would be great to get a mixture of both.

Personally (long-time collector, but fairly new to doing work on customs), I think its rad that they're doing smallish custom series releases and giving some lesser-known artists some exposure. I'd actually be really interested in learning more about the whole production process, timelines, who handles QA, etc.

I liked the design of the naptimenoah Dunnys, but will admit that the color-changing aspect was lost on me. I don't want to keep a hair dryer next to a $100+ custom to make it change colors, much less leave it in the sun. Just my opinion, I'm sure some people would say "I don't want to have to plug in my collectibles" after looking at my work...

Now if I could just get KR to back me on doing some production display cases... :D
